Dr Daniel Durand is a Plastic Surgeon with added qualifications in advanced hand Surgery. He serves the community as a private surgeon at the Montreal Institute for specialized Surgery. He is a Graduate of McGill University in Canada, and he is also a diplomate of the University of Southern California Microsurgery and Hand Surgery Fellowship program in Los-Angeles, California.
Over the past 25 years he has been perfecting his skills in both esthetic plastic surgery, and academic -level Hand and Reconstructive surgery, in the greater Montreal Area. He is a Fellow of both the Canadian Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians, as well as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a Board-Certified Surgeon with licences to practise in both Canada , as well as the United States. He has published extensively in the scientific literature and he is often asked to speak at professional meetings, including the Plastic Surgery Research Council, The Annual Congress of the American College of Surgeons, and the Canadian Society for Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Durand is a graduate of the School of Medicine of McGill University in 1986 and, after completing his internship in surgery, was granted a license to practice medicine in 1987.
He continued his training in general surgery until 1990. That year, he was one of only two candidates on several hundred to be selected to participate in a training program for plastic surgeons offered by a recognized international body.
In addition to the requirements of its resident surgical training, Dr. Durand also chose to follow the same time, the Masters Program in Experimental Surgery at McGill University. During this period he published numerous scientific articles evaluated by his peers and was invited to lecture at several surgical congress, including the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgery, the Plastic Surgery Research Council and the Quebec Society of Plastic Surgeons.
In 1992, Dr. Durand complete both programs and was awarded a Master’s degree from one of the most prestigious surgical programs in Canada. Wishing to further his education, he went to Los Angeles, where he completed an additional year under plastic surgery specialty at the University of Southern California.
In 1993, Dr. Durand returns home to Montreal in order to avail its citizens of its specialized medical skills. In 1994, he successfully passed all necessary tests and obtained the title of Associate (Fellow) of the Royal College of Surgeons (CHSRF). Similarly, in 1996, he managed all examinations and through all the steps required to obtain accreditation from the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS).
Shortly after, in 1997, he became Associate (Fellow) of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
Since 2001, Dr. Durand has the honor to serve on the Royal College Examinations Committee of Surgeons: he firmly believes the fundamental principles of this organization, which emphasize the importance of providing each patient with the best possible surgical care.
